Recently we read the opening to a short story called Broken. It is based on a short video of the same name.
Before the children watched the video they were asked to draw the setting based on the description in the opening paragraph. The children created some beautiful drawings and, when they watched the video, they found that most of them had created a picture very similar to the video.
The children have gone on to find interesting adjectives to describe the characters and they will be doing some writing about the story, focusing on using interesting sentence openers.
