A Co Antrim primary school has welcomed the addition of a new 'Nurture Unit' which will allow pupils to focus on their social and emotional well-being after the pandemic.
Education Minister Michelle McIlveen paid a visit to Abbots Cross Primary School in Newtownabbey last week to officially open their newest classroom named the 'Submarine'.
Nurture Units are groups or classrooms which provide extra help for pupils with social or behavioural problems with each group consisting of between six to ten children, normally from P1-3, led by a nurture group teacher and classroom assistant.
The 'Submarine', a colourful learning space for pupils in the school, will aim to further the emotional development of the children led by nurture teacher Ms Emma Harrison.
