Palace Stables trip
24th Jun 2024
Today P4 had an amazing day out on our school trip to the Palace Stables as part of our ‘Life in the recent past’ topic! During World War II the grounds of the Palace Demesne were the headquarters for the American G.I.s in County Armagh. Through various interactive activities we got to explore ‘Life during the War’ focusing on the Blitz, Evacuees, and Rationing plus much more. We also got to meet with an American G.I. and were escorted to an underground evacuation shelter by the Evacuation Officer.
As part of the war time experience we also got to create our own identity card and evacuation label and participate in a workshop where we looked at artefacts from the period.
It was such a fun day! Check out our photos from todays trip 😀
