Seed Dispersal!

28th Sep 2021

Hello everyone!

Over the past couple of weeks, our P7 class have been learning all about plants. We have been learning about the parts of a flower, pollination and the different way seeds are dispersed. After having a lot of time to study seed dispersal in class, we thought we would do some outdoor learning!

This afternoon, the children worked in groups of 2 and 3 to collect as many examples of seed dispersal as they could find in our school grounds. We placed our findings into polly pockets and carried them to our new outdoor classroom to discuss whether our findings would be dispersed by animals, wind, explosion or water.

It was so pleasing to see the children put their knowledge to practical use and to get out in the sunshine to learn about our local environment. After discussing our findings, we brought our polly pockets inside and sorted our findings into the correct method of seed dispersal. We clearly have a lot of scientists in our class!

Be sure to check out the photos to see the children in action.
